She is almost under supervision all the time. The only activity they have is rehabilitation exercises; that's the only one I saw. The people that are there are old people and all they do is sit in their wheelchairs and do nothing all day. The only activity they have is watching TV. Waverly Gardens was a very active and welcoming community.

Our on call minimum is 2 shifts per month. Will need weekend and weekday availability to get trained in the beginning. I liked Waverly Gardens, but they had a long wait list. It was on a lake with wheelchair-accessible paths all around it, a solarium, a movie theater, a putting green, and a workshop for the men. There were plenty of activities and my mom especially liked that there was a pool, an exercise facility, theater rooms, and a nice solarium. The apartments were clean, spacious, and updated. A part of it looked like a restaurant, a part of it looked like a home and it was inviting. There was a salon, a library, and a room that doubled as a church and a music/activity room. Andrea gave a nice tour and was very informative. She wasn't pushy, but she answered all our questions.

I only ate there once so it didn't really matter. Naturally nearly all of the attendants seem depressed and/or distant, but that was understandable and there were a few people that were very friendly. All in all I would rate it as a good visit, however brief and strange. They have the three steps, independent living, assisted living, and beyond, which we like. It's very pretty and it looks comfortable, and we like the units that we looked at. They have a laundry facility and a fireplace.

The place was very nice, it had several buildings in a manner not unsimilar to a university, and was quite posh. There was a courtyard and the lawn was taken care of very well. Almost everything was wheelchair accessible. The food wasn't so great though, either they got it on the cheap or it was made to fit the diets of all of the elderly living there.

The reason why we're leaving is because it is very expensive. Her room is more like a hospital room. She is in long-term care where the doors are open.
